The incorrect use of splitters used to add outlets.
Signal attenuation happens naturally and via the use of passive devices like cable, connectors, and splitters. Having the correct test equipment and knowledge of devices to calculate the correct levels is crucial to achieve the optimum signal levels for your FTA. Installing splitters and connecting cables incorrectly will affect your signal strength and quality which in turn will affect your FTA experience, if not now eventually.
Damaged cable or wall points.
Damaged cable will cause issues to your signal. There are cheap fix options that can be done but in the instance that your cable is damaged it is advisable to re-run a new cable as the join used to repair the damage will cause issues in the future. All devices have a lifespan, it is only a matter of time before they fail so making sure they are accessible to be replaced when they fail is crucial. For example: a cable that has been joined in a wall cavity and then plastered over will eventually need joint replacement, so ensuring cavity access is essential.
Corroded connections and outlets.
Corrosion will progressively attenuate your signal strength and quality. You may notice some pixilation on one or two FTA channels first, then it will slowly degrade or just stop working all together. Corrosion is inevitable and at some stage you will need your connectors and devices replaced.
